What's the Difference Between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs?

!±8± What's the Difference Between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs?

Plasma and LCD TVs are the latest trend in home entertainment. Both offer unrivalled picture quality and resolution, while doing away with the bulkiness of the older rear-projection technologies. But with all of the hype surrounding these two types of televisions, what is the difference between them? Although they look- and are virtually priced- the same, they are not.

There differences are found in the way in which they display their pictures. Plasma TV technology is made up of hundreds of thousands of little pixels, each capable of displaying red, green, and blue colors. A plasma monitor often consists of two panels, which are filled with an inert gas, such as xenon or neon. When the pixels are excited by pulses of electricity, the gas becomes liquid, thus generating light. This light in turn then illuminates the pixels, causing them to display the appropriate color to form a picture.

LCD panels function in a very similar manner. A panel of thin-film-transmitters, or TFT, sends electricity to cells filled with liquid crystal. When the cells are struck by the electricity, the liquid crystals allow light to filter through. Unlike the pixels found in plasma TVs, LCD monitors create color by blocking out the appropriate wavelengths from white light.

So which is better? The answer to this question depends upon what you plan to use TV for. Do you just want to use it to watch movies and television? If so, then a plasma TV might be best, because they are capable of a higher better color saturation and contrast than their LCD counterparts and for displaying moving images. If you plan in spending a lot of time showing digital photography or plan on using the monitor with your computer, then a LCD display might be better suited to these purposes.

Both plasma and LCD technologies each have their advantages and disadvantages and your decision should ultimately be based on your monitor's application.

Telemetry application audio approach of a video transmitter

Telemetry using the audio channel of a video transmitter, used for flying a model plane in FPV (First Person View). The modulation is based in the Bell 202 modem and is modulated using AFSK at 1200 bps. On top the AX.25 protocol is implemented. On the receiver side no additional hardware is needed (besides the video transmitter), the audio channel is simply fed into the sound card and demodulated using the AGW Packet Engine. A small application was written to read the payload data from AGWPE and display them. More information at vrhome.net

Nokia C6-01 - The Latest Smartphone Offered By Nokia

!±8± Nokia C6-01 - The Latest Smartphone Offered By Nokia

Close on the heels of the large C7, Nokia launched a comparatively smaller and affordable, tablet model touch screen smartphone. It is the new solid and sturdy, compact Nokia C6-01 made of stainless steel with full touch glass display, loaded with newer features than the C7, and the upgraded Symbian 3 operating system.

Sporting an 8 MP camera-its most outstanding feature, with its HD video recording and high resolution display together with all the new features, the C6-01 is in no way similar to the C6. Though the names are almost similar it ends there. Both phones are differently designed, the cameras are totally different, the processors and the screens are also different from each other.

The only way you can differentiate between the two, is by the measurement, weight and appearance. The Nokia C6-01 measures 103.8 ×x 52.5 ×x 13.9 mm and weighs 131 g compared to 113.4 ×x 53 ×x 16.8 mm measurement and 150 g weight of the Nokia C6. The numbering arrangement of the C6-01 is also slightly different compared to the C6.

The instrument works with an ARM 11 680 MHz processor and it has 2D/3D Graphics HW Accelerator with OpenVG1.1 and OpenGL ES 2.0 support. RAM is 256 MB and internal memory 340 MB.

The striking primary 8 MP camera packs dual-LED flash with auto-focus, and 720p HD video recording at 25fps, face detection and Geo-tagging. It also has a VGA camera.

The 3.2" 360 × 640 pixel clear black AMOLED capacitive touch screen is another prominent feature of the C6-01.

Like the C7, and unlike the C6 with a single widgetized home screen the C6-01 has 3 widgetized home screens with software access to social networking and online services. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard of the C6 is not seen on the C6-01. It is loaded with GPS software, also supporting Ovi Maps navigation and additional software that includes Web TV and Climate mission.

With its highly upgraded Symbian 3 device, this smart phone offers good multimedia support for a wide range of media formats. The connectivity features include Quad-band GSM, Penta-band WCDMA, HSUPA, Bluetooth 3.0, Micro USB, Wi-Fi and TV output using the normal 3.5mm AV connector, as found in the C7. The FM transmitter feature of the C7 is missing on this new smart phone. The phone also features sensor capabilities that include Accelerometer, Proximity, Ambient light detector and a compass.

The C6-01 battery is 1050 mAh Li-Ion battery that has a talk-time rating of 11 hours and 30 minutes. The smart phone can be charged with a Micro USB Charger.

In the standard sales package is included a 2 GB card and stereo headset. The C6-01 has a microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB.

The Nokia C6-01 is priced at €260 excluding tax and subsidy, slightly higher than the C6. The phones will be available in Black and Silver Grey color combination and is expected to be in the market by the end of 2010.
